Located in Chipping Campden, Cotswolds House Hotel was a welcome overnight break with a luxurious touch. This beautiful Georgian townhouse not only houses a stunning boutique hotel, but there is also an incredible spa in the coach house, a delicious restaurant and the prettiest two acres of walled gardens. The building has overlooked the square for more than 200 years, and for the past 10 it has been one of the most prestigious hotels in the Cotswolds.

The Room at Cotswolds House Hotel
There are 28 rooms, including garden cottages and suites. I had the best of both worlds, as my suite overlooked the beautiful gardens below me, and sitting on a balcony sipping champagne was the perfect touch.

The room itself was faultless, a neutral mix of textiles, with highlights of crimson in a contemporary design with a nod to the building’s roots via original features. I could not decide whether the huge marble bathroom with its standalone bath was the highlight of the room or the sitting area with its stylish cream sofas. The suite included a flatscreen TV, ample wardrobes and coffee-making facilities, but this was not needed as I sat on the sofa with doors open, trees swaying outside in the summer breeze.
The Spa at Cotswolds House Hotel
I could have sat there all afternoon; however, a massage was booked for me in the spa. In keeping with the rest of the hotel, in a former stable block, you access it via the manicured gardens at the rear of the hotel. It was so lovely wandering through the trees, towards the spa, and this was equally as lovely as the hotel itself.
A large arched doorway welcomes you into the reception area, neutral tones and natural materials throughout the building add to the calm, and walking through to the changing rooms past the pool adds to the calm with the water feature and the sun glittering on the water via the floor-to-ceiling windows.

Features include a hydrotherapy pool and hammam room, as well as six treatment rooms. I had opted for a deep tissue massage, and it did not disappoint. The massage was 60 minutes of bliss, and I literally floated back to my suite to get ready for dinner.
The Food at Cotswolds House Hotel
So, you may have guessed from my previous articles, I am a little obsessed with food. I’ve been fortunate to dine at the Chef’s Table and Ynyshir. I’d heard great things about the restaurant via my friend who lives locally to Chipping Campden, so it would have been rude not to invite him!

We had a glass of rosé on the terrace, making the most of the balmy evening before we sat for dinner. The brasserie is a charming space and was full of diners; clearly, the positive reputation was encouraging diners from outside the hotel as well.
The menu is derived from inspired international flavours, classic British dishes and locally sourced produce, and the staff are friendly and professional.
Three courses were chosen; typically, we both chose the same dishes. Teriyaki pork bites to start, which could have been a main course in themselves. The main, the spiced duck breast, was delicious and perfectly cooked. We chose a side of veg rather than potatoes, and they were the perfect balance to the flavour of the duck. We had an affogato to finish, the perfect end to an incredible meal (with little room for much more!)

After saying our goodnights, I made my way to my suite, the balcony door was ajar, and the evening’s breeze was perfectly cooling.
I woke up after to most perfect sleep; my only disappointment…. I had to leave early for meetings and missed breakfast, which I imagine would have been lovely. A reason to return!
