In the heart of Gstaad, The Mansard is a delightful retreat that encapsulates the essence of alpine rustic chic. Last summer, I had the pleasure of staying in the Junior Suite, where every detail was designed to provide comfort, style, and an unforgettable experience. From the moment I stepped through the door, I felt enveloped in a world where modern luxury meets traditional charm.
Arrival and Check-In at The Mansard
Upon my arrival, I was warmly greeted by Eva at the front desk. Her welcoming demeanour set the tone for my stay. Check-in was seamless, and Eva took the time to provide me with a map and insider tips on the best local attractions. The rustic elegance of the hotel immediately captured my attention—think rough wood beams complemented by sharp modern lines, creating a harmonious blend of old-world charm and contemporary design.

Throughout my stay, the staff were exceptional. Irini at the desk was particularly helpful, providing me with directions and assistance in booking local excursions. Their genuine care for the guests’ experience was evident, making me feel right at home.
The Junior Suite
The Junior Suite itself was a small but mighty sanctuary. With muted warm colours, it radiated a sense of tranquillity. The room was equipped with a modern TV featuring Netflix and Amazon Prime, perfect for a cosy movie night after a long day exploring the stunning surroundings. The attention to detail was evident; the plush bedding and tasteful decor made it a relaxing haven.

One of the standout features of my suite was the view from the window, where the serene landscape of Gstaad unfolded before my eyes. It was the perfect backdrop for unwinding with a book or simply soaking in the beauty of the Alps.
Dining Experience
Breakfast at The Mansard was a delightful affair. Although the selection was medium-sized, it was thoughtfully curated, offering a range of options to please every palate. I was particularly impressed with the à la carte choices, which included local specialities that showcased the region’s culinary delights. Olga, who attended to guests during breakfast, was a gem. Her warm personality and attentiveness made the experience even more enjoyable. The cosy dining area, with its stylish decor, provided a lovely atmosphere to start the day.

Exploring Gstaad
One of the best aspects of The Mansard is its location on Gstaad’s main drag, making it incredibly convenient for exploring the area. I found myself within walking distance of the renowned Gstaad Menuhin Festival, a cultural highlight of the summer season. The festival, known for its world-class performances, was a treat for any music lover.

Additionally, the famous Molkerei, known for its exquisite Swiss cheeses and dairy products, was just a short stroll away. I indulged in fresh dairy delights that made for perfect souvenirs for family and friends back home.
For those who enjoy luxury shopping, the hotel is conveniently close to high-end boutiques, including Hermes and Louis Vuitton, allowing for a leisurely afternoon of retail therapy.
Rooftop Bar at The Mansard
A must-visit during my stay was the hotel’s rooftop bar—the only one in Gstaad. The panoramic 360-degree views of the mountains were breathtaking, providing a stunning backdrop to relax and unwind. I savoured a delightful Limoncello Spritz, a refreshing treat that perfectly complemented the alpine ambience. The rooftop bar is a social hub, ideal for mingling with fellow guests or simply enjoying a quiet moment while taking in the stunning scenery.

In conclusion, my summer stay at The Mansard was an experience to remember. From the charming Junior Suite to the attentive staff and prime location, every aspect contributed to a delightful getaway. Whether you’re looking to indulge in luxury shopping, savour the culinary delights of the region, or simply enjoy the stunning alpine scenery, The Mansard is the perfect base for your summer adventures in Gstaad.
As I packed my bags and said my goodbyes, I left with a heart full of memories and a longing to return to this enchanting destination. If you’re seeking a blend of rustic elegance, modern amenities, and a touch of alpine magic, look no further than The Mansard for an unforgettable summer escape.
