Fragrance has the wonderful power to shape our emotions and bring back memories. A single scent can also completely transform the atmosphere of a space. Beyond that, fragrance can support wellness and offer comfort. Personally, for me, my fragrance is just as much a part of my image as my wardrobe. Whether it’s for your home or yourself, I have tried some, so I can share with you.
Home Fragrances
Starting with my space, I spend a lot of time there, and I need it to smell good and invoke calm.
There are many different kinds of fragrance for your home: essential oil diffusers, candles or reed diffusers.
Airy Fragrances sent me two of their reed diffusers, inspired by the Japanese art of Kōdō, meaning “Way of Fragrance”. This art form is just as revered as the well-known tea ceremony. It’s about mindfulness and being in the moment.
Out of the two scents I received, I really loved the Forest Breath. It has a woody, musky and floral fragrance. Just the way I like it. I really loved how every time I’d come home, I would be met by this fragrance, not overpowering but perfectly lingering around my space. The fragrance is completely alcohol free, vegan and cruelty-free, it includes eight high-quality Japanese reeds and a vial-shaped vase. Very minimalistic and perfect to keep on show.

Best part, one can buy refills, so no need to fret if you really like your fragrance and are close to running out. And there are seven different fragrances to choose from, definitely something for everyone’s taste.
For those evenings when you want to make it extra cosy, and perhaps like me, it gets kind of dark, a candle is a perfect way to go. It ticks so many boxes for that ambience set up. Lalique sent me their Chiang Mai Thailand candle, a special edition in a decorative yellow and white glass with a burning time of 40-50 hours.
Top Notes:
- Pear
- Bergamot Essence
- Corsican Clementine
Heart Notes:
- Jasmine Sambac Absolute
- Saffron
- Orange Flower
Dry-down notes
- Cedarwood Essence
- Dreamwood
- Vanilla Bourbon
Now, if those notes didn’t make your mind travel far away, I’m not sure what will. A perfect mix of fresh floral spice, I’d say a very sexy home fragrance indeed.

Perfumes
Now that our home is taken care of, why not move on to Perfumes? I absolutely have a signature fragrance, every grown-up should. But I also believe that my preference changes with my mood or with what my day has going on. So I highly recommend having a fragrance wardrobe. It doesn’t have to be fifty of them, but a few well-chosen fragrances to take you from day to night, from the office to the party.
Or like me, even for your relaxing day off. I always wear a fragrance, even if I am staying home.
It makes me feel better, it brings me calm and puts me at ease. Perhaps the following will inspire you to treat yourself.

Lalique really knows how to design not only fragrance but the presentation as well. I was sent their Soleil Vibrant Lalique Eau de Parfum. This holds the same notes as the above-mentioned Lalique candle. With a sublime blend of woody, floral and vanilla notes, it can bring you perfectly from day to night.
It’s light and playful enough, but also dark and woody enough. It travels beautifully through the notes on your skin. And the bottle is a work of art of its own. To me, it looks like rays of sunshine both rising and setting, all with a yellow tint. I, for one, am keeping mine on display.

Now, the following fragrance is the first creation by YouTube influencer Sophie King, who is also a perfume enthusiast, and I totally understand. Her debut fragrance is called Empress, and it has a stunning collection of notes. Let me paint the picture, imagine fresh rose and warm popcorn, Moroccan rose and peony, hints of patchouli, toffee and pear. Sounds perhaps like an unusual mix, but it’s just the perfect cocktail of notes. Together, it brings fresh warmth and mystery. A fragrance that will definitely make people wonder what you are wearing in the very best way.
Now, last but not least, Oriflame sent me three gorgeous fragrances, and my favourite might surprise you. Miss Giordani Floral is perfect for the woman who likes a feminine floral fragrance. Top notes of Mandarin, Neroli and Ginger, Heart Notes of Jasmine, Tuberose and Peony, followed by base notes of Ylang Ylang, Cedarwood and vanilla. Sophisticated femininity in a bottle.

Essenza Supreme is for the woman who wants to embrace opulence and allure. This is a slightly darker fragrance, still floral, but it has hints of those deeper woody notes. Starting off with top notes of spicy pineapple, mandarin and black pepper. Heart notes of white floral infusion ending with base notes of olibanum, patchouli and cashmere woods.
The last one is my favourite, and what might surprise you is that it’s actually a Men’s perfume. But I often find that I like how they travel on my skin, especially when they are a little softer. Having that said, gentlemen, listen up. Mister Giordani is a bright and vibrant fragrance with a refined feel to it, if feel like it is strong enough to last but not overpowering.

It holds top notes of grapefruit, ginger and lemon peel, heart notes of geranium, pepper and marine accord and lastly base notes of vetiver, tonka beans and patchouli. It’s a very handsome fragrance, I might even share this with my man, maybe.
I hope the above has inspired you to dive deeper into the world of fragrances. I used to think I needed to finish one before buying a new one, which also always ended up being the same one. I highly recommend trying out something new, exploring which one makes you relive those memories or helps your mind to settle. Treat yourself.
