So, why is the Winter Editor suddenly into aesthetics and visiting Dr Ducu Botoaca in Soho? Well, I am turning 50 this year, which is kind of weird… because, frankly, I identify with being about 32 what with all the skiing and sports. At the age of 10, I was hit with chronic acne, which has never really left me. I have learnt to manage the acne, an autoimmune disease, all through diet. Over the years the acne scarred my face leaving pitting and pock marks; I have grown used to it and made my peace with it and a bit of stubble can help hide a multitude of sins.

However, when I had an opportunity to visit the Dr Ducu clinic in London to give my skin some TLC, I thought why not give my skin a refresh for my 50s, so Dr Anna at the clinic has been using a few techniques to rejuvenate my skin which I will be reviewing on Bespoke Black Book soon. In the meantime, I wanted to ask Dr. Ducu a few questions about his clinic and the industry.

Tell us a little bit about your background and how you ended up starting your clinic Dr. Ducu?

I come from a family of surgeons, which naturally fostered my early interest in medicine. I’ve always been fascinated by the incredible transformations that can be achieved through non-surgical procedures. My journey began in the NHS, where I gained invaluable experience that laid the foundation for my career. I worked my way up to the level of a plastic surgeon and eventually decided to explore the private sector.

My time on Harley Street was particularly formative, where I refined my skills and developed a deep understanding of patient care and aesthetic medicine. It was during this period that I felt a strong pull towards creating something of my own, which led me to open my clinic. My goal was to offer patients cutting-edge, non-surgical treatments in a setting that prioritises safety, innovation, and individualised care.

What is the most popular treatment at the Dr. Ducu Clinic?

Our most popular treatments are those that reflect our commitment to innovation and excellence. The Non-Surgical Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) is highly sought after, particularly because we use a technique I developed called the DBL™️, which offers exceptional results with minimised risks. Additionally, our SkinTight™️ protocol, which targets skin laxity, cellulite, and loose skin, has garnered a lot of attention. We’ve also seen tremendous interest in our hair and eyebrow transplant procedures, particularly our DBrow™️ technique, which delivers natural-looking results.

What is the treatment you most like to administer at the Dr. Ducu Clinic?

I have a particular passion for administering the Non-Surgical BBL. The DBL™️ technique that I developed is something I’m incredibly proud of, as it not only delivers excellent aesthetic outcomes but also significantly reduces the risk of infection and migration. Our clinic has maintained a 0% infection rate for eight years, which is a testament to the effectiveness and safety of our approach. There’s a unique satisfaction in offering patients a procedure that enhances their appearance without the risks associated with surgery.

Have you seen a change in aesthetic trends in recent years?

Yes, absolutely. The trend is increasingly moving towards achieving natural results. Patients are more focused on subtle enhancements that emphasise their natural beauty rather than dramatic changes. Additionally, there’s a growing emphasis on treating skin laxity, both on the body and face. Our SkinTight™️ protocol and treatments like Morpheus8 and polynucleotides are becoming more popular as they stimulate collagen production, helping to tighten and rejuvenate the skin.

What are the next exciting aesthetic products coming to the market?

One of the most exciting developments in the aesthetic field is the use of polynucleotides and exosomes. Polynucleotides are showing great promise in skin regeneration and repair, offering a new level of efficacy in anti-aging treatments. Exosomes, on the other hand, are at the forefront of regenerative medicine, with their ability to promote cell communication and tissue repair. These innovations are going to play a significant role in how we approach anti-aging and skin rejuvenation in the coming years.

Our editor Adam is reviewing some of the aesthetics performed by Dr. Anna. How did you meet Dr. Anna, and why was it important that she became part of your team?

I met Dr. Anna through her husband, and it was clear from the start that she would be an invaluable addition to our team. She’s one of the top aesthetic doctors in Russia, with extensive expertise in cosmetic dermatology. Her unique perspective and depth of knowledge have enriched the range of treatments we offer at our clinic. Having Dr. Anna on board allows us to deliver a more comprehensive and nuanced approach to patient care, ensuring that our clients receive the highest standard of treatment.

Lastly, what does the future hold for you and your clinic?

The future is incredibly exciting for us. We’re planning to expand with a second location in Mayfair, which will allow us to reach an even broader clientele. Additionally, we’re looking at opportunities overseas to maximise our presence and bring our unique, tailored procedures to a global audience. Our focus remains on innovation and excellence, and we’re committed to staying at the forefront of the aesthetic field.
