After taking Amsterdam, Berlin and Ibiza by storm, THE BUTCHER decided to bring its delicious, world-famous burgers to the best city in the UK, Manchester! I of course had to go along and see what all the fuss was about.
Visiting The Butcher Manchester
The restaurant itself is part of a revolutionary new entertainment venue in Manchester, Urban Playground, located close to Selfridges on the top floor of the Arndale. It’s the kind of place you walk past when you’re shopping and think ‘That looks good, I’ll have to go there one day’.
Full of bright neon lights, industrial-style seating with tall stools at high wooden benches and surrounded by a whole host of interactive games perfect for families and groups of friends to take part in as well as a fully stocked bar with signature cocktails, the venue is a whole night out in itself.
THE BUTCHER is renowned for its high-end take on fast food, using only the finest fresh ingredients including Aberdeen Angus beef, with food prepared on the spot right in front of you. The “butchers” in the kitchen work exclusively with the best quality meat, to the selection of herbs, the freshest vegetables, the unique signature sauces, right down to the homemade buns. To put it simply, you’re going to get a top-quality burger that is guaranteed to taste sensational!
I took a friend on what seemed like a quiet Thursday night in Manchester city centre but the place was already full of people when we arrived (always a good sign). We studied the menu for quite some time as there really is a lot to choose from, which is funny considering it’s essentially just burgers and chips on the menu.
What to expect from The Butcher Manchester’s delicious menu
There is a burger for every taste here, whether you want something simple like ‘THE BUTCHER’ prime Aberdeen Angus beef, lettuce, tomato, grilled onion, gherkin and The Butcher sauce or ‘Benedict’ prime Aberdeen Angus beef, ham, fried egg, lettuce, tomato, grilled onion and Hollandaise sauce. There are also veggie and vegan options as well as a kid’s menu.
My companion stuck with a delicious classic cheeseburger ‘THE BUTCHER with cheese’ with a hot, melted slab of Dutch Edam cheese and Butcher fries. The burger was thick, juicy and full of flavour that melted in the mouth. The chips were golden, crispy and the perfect amount of salty. I opted for ‘The Hot Chick’ crispy chicken breast, lettuce, tomato, grilled onion, jalapeño and sriracha mayonnaise.
I love a chicken burger, and after a whole month of dieting, I was more than ready to tuck into this rather hefty handful of a burger. The chicken was delicious, crispy, and juicy, and went beautifully with the sweetness of the brioche bun, it wasn’t quite as spicy as I was expecting but the flavours of the sriracha mayonnaise gave it that morish kick that made me enjoy every single bite.
I paired my burger with the sweet potato fries, which I have to say were perfect, hot, crisp and done properly, without the need for excessive flavouring or flour which so often ruins this simple side dish. I asked for all the sauces to dip our fries into, of which there were 9 to choose from. We loved the garlic mayo and chipotle spicy sauce but those with more gourmet tastes will enjoy the delicious truffle mayo or sesame paste.
I was fully planning on washing it all down with their boozy Dark Rum ‘n Chocolate milkshake but I was full to bursting after my burger and decided I would have to revisit for a game of mini golf and a few cocktails.
It’s fast food made with delicious, quality ingredients that you can see and taste. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the venue is the perfect place to visit with your friends for a night out or to enjoy with family in the afternoon. To find out more see online.
