A Luxurious Escape to Ava Resort Cancun

Cancun, with its sun-drenched beaches and azure waters, offers a slice of paradise that is hard to resist. At the heart of this tropical haven is Ava Resort & Residences, where luxury meets sustainability. Rachel and I had the distinct pleasure of staying in their stunning Penthouse Suite, and the experience was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable, beginning with a warm welcome from our concierges, Valentina and Poulete, who ensured our check-in process was seamless.

A Suite of Dreams

Staying in the Penthouse Suite at Ava Resort Cancun is the very definition of modern indulgence. From the moment Rachel and I entered, we were greeted by panoramic ocean views that define this sanctuary in the sky. The suite itself is a masterclass in understated luxury, spanning over 1,300 square feet with a private terrace, two spa-inspired bathrooms, and a living space designed for both relaxation and entertaining.

Waking up in the king-sized bed, sunlight streaming through floor-to-ceiling windows, set the scene for each day. Our mornings began with Nespresso coffee on the terrace, followed by a soak in the six-person spa tub, all while overlooking the endless blue of the Caribbean. The suite’s thoughtful touches, like a walk-in wardrobe, custom robes, and an indoor dining space for eight, meant we felt at home, yet entirely spoiled.

AVA’s Penthouse Suite is ideal for couples or small families seeking privacy without sacrificing amenities: 24-hour room service, a fully-stocked mini bar, and high-speed Wi-Fi are all on hand. For anyone wanting refined comfort with a sense of place, it’s an utterly compelling choice.

Culinary Delights Await

Our culinary journey commenced at Plaza MX, a vibrant venue reminiscent of a marketplace, where we enjoyed a diverse array of lunch options. The lively atmosphere set the stage for our gastronomic exploration. Later, we relished a poolside lunch at The Pods, where Eduardo and Leonardo served us delightful flatbreads, complementing the sun-soaked afternoon beautifully.

For dinner, we chose Chez Moi, a venue that elevated our dining experience with the attentive service of Antonio, the restaurant manager, and Sergio, our waiter. Brayan, the skilled bartender, crafted a remarkable cognac-based cocktail, the Montpellier, which was both delicate and refreshing. Our meal was a culinary masterpiece, beginning with foie gras terrine accompanied by shards of puff pastry and brioche ice cream. The Chez Moi salad, featuring sous vide lobster and a black ash leek sauce, was a fresh and incredible delight. The evening continued with expertly cooked Beef Wellington and duck Margaret, and concluded with a perfectly presented chocolate ganache and lemon crème dessert.

Poolside Luxury and Eco-Friendly Innovations

The following day, Oscar, the resort manager, arranged a private cabana at the adults-only pool for us. This exclusive spot offered loungers, a comfortable lounge area with chairs and a television, and even a private bathroom. Wilberth and Adrian ensured our every need was met, enhancing our experience at Dez Day Club, where Noel served a selection of sauces and dips with a friendly smile.

Ava Resort’s commitment to sustainability is truly commendable. The resort harnesses solar energy to power its facilities from 6 PM to 5 AM, and employs innovative crystal lagoon technology to maintain pool PH levels with minimal chemical use.

Dinner at Black Iron and Sweet Endings

Our dinner at Black Iron was a delightful affair, with Raul, our waiter, and Eduardo, the restaurant manager, providing exceptional service. The Josper-cooked cauliflower and beef empanadas, accompanied by chimichurri, were authentic and delicious. The prawns and fillet on the Josper grill, served with vegetables and sweet potato fries, were simply exceptional. We concluded our meal with a visit to Conos, where Italian gelato made in-house provided a sweet and satisfying end to our evening.

Wellness and Relaxation

Our days began with invigorating workouts at the Fiit Wellness Centre, a state-of-the-art gym offering an extensive range of equipment and classes. This daily ritual helped balance our indulgence in daytime cocktails.

We also visited the Spa at Ava Resort for some much-needed relaxation. Angello at the front desk guided us through a rejuvenating hydrotherapy circuit, including a sauna, steam session with an aloe mask, and a soak in the hydrotherapy pool. Claudia Pood and Briseyda provided massages that left us feeling completely revitalised.

In conclusion, our stay at Ava Resort & Residences in Cancun was an unforgettable blend of luxury, sustainability, and exceptional service. The resort’s attention to detail, from the meticulously designed Penthouse Suite to the diverse culinary experiences, ensured that every moment was a delight. The commitment to eco-friendly practices added an enriching dimension to our stay, allowing us to enjoy the resort’s amenities with a clear conscience.

The seamless integration of relaxation and wellness, whether through the invigorating sessions at the Fiit Wellness Centre or the rejuvenating treatments at the Spa, provided the perfect balance to our indulgent escapades. The attentive staff, from our concierges to the restaurant managers, made us feel truly pampered and at home.
